Yıldırım Beyazıt Anadolu Lisesi is a general secondary school established in 1995. It is in a residential district located on the outskirts of Kırıkkale, a newly-developing industrial city in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey with an average population of 200.000 residents.  Our city is about one hour's drive (76 km) from the capital, Ankara and it is expanding rapidly to become an industrial  center. Main industries in Kırıkkale include state-owned military arms and ammunition factories (MKE) and chemical plants. The economy is almost exclusively based on its steel mills producing high quality alloy steel and machinery. In our school, we have 45 committed and enthusiastic staff members mostly with over 10 years of teaching experience who aim to make learning stimulating for the students so that they are motivated to do their best within a broad and creative curriculum. We have 595 students aged between 14-17 coming from the surrounding neighbourhoods of Kırıkkale after a national qualifying examination to enroll in our school. Our students, mostly coming from lower or middle class families, do not have a very high standard of living in general and some of them need support from their social environment and the state in some aspects of their lives.
